Asia-Pacific experienced another prosperous month with the MSCI Hong Kong index posting an impressive 15.6 per cent – sustaining the gains made last month. Every sector across Financial Express' Hong Kong Mutual (HKM) universe posted a positive return – ranging from a 28.6 per cent gain in Singapore Equity to a 0.5 per cent gain in USD/HKD Currency.

This week saw increases in most Hong Kong Mutual (HKM) sectors over the week from 15/07/2008-21/07/2008, according to Financial Express Analytics. The best performer was again HKM Equity – China with a 3.8% increase, whilst HKM Commodity & Energy was the worst performer of the week dropping 1.5%, predominantly due to the sharp drop in oil prices.

This week saw increases in all Hong Kong Mutual (HKM) sectors except HKM Currency – USD/HKD which saw no change over the week from 07/07/2008-07/14/2008. During the week the best performing sector was HKM China Equities with an increase of 4.3%.

All Hong Kong Mutual (HKM) sectors but two fell in the week to 26 June: 'Currency - Other’ which gained 1.2%, and 'Currency - USD/HKD', which remained unchanged. On the other hand 'Equity - China' took a 3.9% battering.
